This is an overview of current and future research projects.

Progress
In the past years clinical data of a significant number of AIH patients in the Netherlands is stored in a large nationwide database. Using this data more epidemiology in our country is further elucidated. Almost all included patients consented in drawing an extra 10ml of blood, which allowed us to performe a genome association screen and gain more insight in the pathogenetics of the disease.  Both findings were published in important medical journals.

Ongoing research:

• STOP study (optimum conditions for ceasing of immunosupressive medication)
• CAMARO study (best treatment for newly diagnosed patients)
• Fibrosis study (risk factors for development of liver fibrosis during treatment)
• Overlap study (characteristics of patients with overlapsyndromes)
